SEO(Oh!) Guide

SEO(Oh!) Guide

Project Overview

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is an important part of any web development, and one that Cabbage Tree Creative takes into consideration from the outset of any project. Whilst Cabbage Tree also offers concentrated SEO packages once a website is live, there are many things that website owners can do to improve their site’s search engine presence. Increasingly, clients are becoming interested in the basics of SEO, so we wanted to produce a guide to provide them with that information.

The Brief

Create an easy-to-follow beginner’s guide to SEO for distribution to clients and other website operators.

Our Solution

Simplicity: The key factor in producing a successful SEO publication was to keep it simple. SEO is an in-depth topic that can quickly become complicated for beginners. Our focus throughout was to keep the information in the publication as straight forward as possible, whilst informing and helping our readers.

Relevance: Keeping the content of the publication relevant to all potential readers was also very important. The book is targeted at independent website operators in the New Zealand travel industry, and we kept this in mind throughout the development process.

User-friendly: We opted to include a glossary, easy step-by-step instructions, examples, links, tips, pictures and an SEO checklist in the interests of making the publication as user-friendly as possible.

Expertise: To ensure the information in our publication was accurate, we consulted our in-house experts in design, development and SEO. As such, the information within provides SEO best-practice techniques from every aspect of web development.

Design: How do you make SEO look exciting? Our talented designer came up with a fresh, enticing design and a catchy title to appeal to our readers. A simple colour scheme is used effectively throughout to draw attention to key aspects, while design features like information boxes and bullet-points are used prominently, allowing readers to flick through at their own pace. The fun and appealing design allows our readers a comfortable yet sophisticated introduction to the world of SEO.

Success Factors

The teamwork within the Cabbage Tree Creative office allowed this publication to occur seamlessly from start to finish. With input and expert opinion from designers, developers, management and editorial staff the booklet came together quickly and was checked thoroughly for accuracy from all sectors of the Cabbage Tree team.

Knowing what our clients want was also a huge help in the production of this booklet. The publication came about due to enquiries and discussions with clients about SEO, so we were able to channel this information into the booklet to produce something our clients could and would use.
