Project Overview

Heritage Expeditions is an international travel company specializing in worldwide natural history expeditions to the Antarctic, Southwest Pacific and Russian far east.

The internet is core to their marketing; their website has to convey the beauty and emotion of their expeditions.

The site needs to be motivating and awe-inspiring yet informative and focused on conversions.

The Brief

Redesign the Heritage Expeditions website to capture the essence of the expeditions and make it easy for customers to gather information and book online.

Our Solution

Emotion: 'Wow, I really want to do that!' That’s the emotion and motivation our design aims to capture, tantalising the visitor with amazing expedition images and footage. The site further motivates by capturing knowledge-hungry prospects with news and views about the expeditions, and reinforcing the positive site experience with recommendations and comments from past customers. 

Navigation: With four destinations, eight expeditions, multiple departure dates and several price offerings per expedition, simple navigation is critical to keeping visitors' attention and providing them quick access to the information they need. Our clever design and robust content management system, ThriveCMS, makes the navigation plain sailing.

Information: Heritage Expeditions' site visitors and customers are naturally information-hungry users. They want to know everything about the expeditions but also about the natural history and latest news from the areas they plan to visit. Using ThriveCMS, Heritage Expeditions can easily upload content, videos, images, trip report documents, maps and their own news, as well as news from other sources. Providing quality, up-to-date information reinforces Heritage Expeditions’ position as experts in their field. 

Conversions: Easy-to-understand pricing information and online booking mechanisms are essential for a company like Heritage Expeditions. Capturing and solving customers' purchase questions or doubts is also vital. These issues were solved with the addition of easy-access 'book now' links throughout the site, as well as customer affirmations and options for asking questions at every stage of the booking process. Further extending the site's revenue opportunities we incorporated an online shop for purchasing accessories, books and maps.

Powerful imagery and freedom to express their talents allowed our design team to create a site that exceeded our client's expectations. Consistent use of ThriveCMS makes it easy for the client to keep their content relevant and up to date.
