FAQ
What is the difference between website hosting and domain hosting?
The domain name is the address of your website, while the hosting is the space you need to store the website. When you register a domain name, you get the right to use that name. Hosting refers to how you can use that name as an address for your website.
Before you can get website hosting you must have a domain name. Domain names are purchased through registered domain name providers. You pay a fee to have the rights to that domain name. The domain name will be located on the providers server. This means that when you type in the domain name to the address bar in your browser, the domain name is resolved via this server.
Website hosting refers to where the files that make up your website are located; it is the space that you rent to store them on someone else's server, or your own server. When the web address is entered, and the domain name resolved, the IP address points to the server where the files are located, retrieves the relevant web pages, and displays them in the browser.
