Brian Westwood - General Manager
Of Scottish origin, Brian is an import to both New Zealand and Cabbage Tree.
Coming to New Zealand in 1993, straight out of university Brian cut his teeth in managerial positions with LWR. Moving into the tourism sector in 1997 with Christchurch Tourism and subsequently running Hurunui Tourism. This industry experience learning from tourism businesses large and small has helped crystallise his passion for the sector and the people that invest so much of themselves into what they do.
At Cabbage Tree, Brian spends his time focusing on the smooth running of the account management and design teams. Continually looking at ways to improve on what we deliver and how we deliver it.
Growing from 8 staff when he started to 20 staff now presents a number of challenges and plenty of rewards.
Brian also runs Cabbage Tree’s sister company Tourism Innovations, producing TourismData, Fourcorners and TourismSites.
Fortunately surrounded by such a talented team his job is relatively easy, just don’t tell Lawrence that.
To relax, Brian volunteers as a paramedic with St John Ambulance in Darfield. Despite the exposure to many young heart attack victims, Brian refuses to engage in any fitness regime and insists on enjoying the fruits of New Zealand’s dairy industry: cheese, butter and chocolate - not together and not in that order!
