This was a brand new site, which needed to market both the region and the operators. As the client is a local business rather than a larger group like RTOs, the project had to be delivered on time and within a tight budget. They opted for Tourism Data to have flexible listings that operators can manage themselves, and had a clear idea of what content and images were going to make an engaging website.
Create a visually stunning site, which really inspires the user the find out more about the beautiful Bay of Islands region. The client wanted to showcase local operators with full listings including links to Social Media and a live feed of TripAdvisor reviews. The site also had to be easy to navigate, and focus on optimising SEO on launch to get this brand new build ranking well, and quickly.
Process: After going through their needs & ideas, the client sent on a detailed brief of what they wanted to the Cabbages. Once visuals were ready, the build continued in the background while the client was brought up to speed in what and how to manage Tourism Data listings, and how to manage the admin side of their website. As operators began sending through their information this was collated and saved, and before we knew it a great website was starting to take shape!
Design: A Home Page that draws in the user, using a really large image slideshow. The images aren't just pretty however, each one has caption info and it's easy to get more information on that part of the Bay by clicking on the text.
Content and images: This was planned and worked on by the client from the beginning and continued through to Go Live. This meant they had time to create really good content, and ensure links were well placed to maximise SEO potential. The client was proactive in playing around with different styles and formats available within the CMS that best suited their site.
The project was led by a local consultant on behalf of the client. So the Cabbages basically had the best of both worlds: the client knowing their business inside out, and Catherine from Langford Ink's expert knowledge of design, content and web strategy. Having a library of over 500 gorgeous images didn't hurt either!
Client feedback was always super speedy and honest, which kept the project moving and resulted in a final product everyone was genuinely excited about.
